Urban renewal is an inevitable progress to keep a city young and sustainable and BSGL has won a public section redevelopment project to construct the new foundation elements on a piece of land in Kowloon Bay where multi-storey industrial factories made of structural concrete were once erected on.
Overcoming old foundations and pilings with limited as-built records are certainly one of the major challenges in this project.
With advanced planning and detailed study of the various construction methods on removal of old piles, the project team had already started and removed successfully close to 50% of the estimated hundred number of abandoned steel H-piles from the old factory buildings.
At the same time, bored piling works to the 5 new residential blocks had also started in order to keep up with the tight construction schedule.
To follow the local tradition, “Bai-San” is the ceremony to wish every success to the project and good health and safety to all involved. This site blessing was joined by the head office management and by coincidence we had the honour to have our HR Director from Paris Headquarter to witness this time.
Happy to see both the client and site team enjoyed this little break time and also the delicious freshly roasted pigs from the ceremony.
